Money, Agogo, Beat by Beat by Beat

So I figured since I haven't posted in awhile I may as well review the three KMFDM items I got for Christmas.
First let's start off with "Money." "Money" was originally released in February of 1992, the month I was born (like you care), and was later re-released in 2006. I got the re-release obviously because the original is most likely very hard to find. Anyways, the CD features the popular KMFDM tracks Vogue, Help Us Save Us Take Us Away, Sex on the Flag, and the title track Money. It also features remixes of Money, Vogue, as well as Godlike and Die Now-Live Later (aka I Will Pray and Under Satan). The album kicks off nicely with Money, which has an excellent synth intro to it. Things then kind of go downhill from there. Help Us Save Us Take Us Away is way too calm, and I'm not a big fan of Bargled. Once you reach I Will Pray the album gets kicked up a notch, then goes downhill again with Vogue 2000 and has a nice finish with Money (Deutschmark Mix), which is an instrumental version of Money with some extra percussion. Keeping it short and sweet, If you're a KMFDM fanatic like myself, it's definitely worth a listen; however, if you are looking to get more into KMFDM I would not recommend it.
Next we're onto "Agogo." This CD was originally released in 1998... and that's it. Never re-released like it's brother CD known as "Retro." "Agogo" is an entire album filled with KMFDM's never before released tracks. Well... after re-releasing all the albums and releasing the Extra series only four tracks have not been released. In my opinion, only two of those tracks (Mysterious Ways and Ooh La La) are the only ones worth a listen. Nothing much to say about this album altogether, it's early KMFDM works and only really for hardcore KMFDM fans.
Finally we end with KMFDM's tour compilation DVD known as "Beat by Beat by Beat," which features four tours and all of their music videos on just one DVD. All of the tours kick some serious ass. The first tour is the actual "Beat by Beat" tour, which promoted their album "Nihil" and the only downfall in that tour is that... well... it wasn't really much of a tour DVD as it was three live songs (one dubbed over with the album version) and live footage with music videos. Then their are the two Money tours, the Chicago one and the Palo Alto one. Both tours are phenominal and they are straight up live. The last tour is their tour in 1990, which also kicks ass. The Money tours are by far the best, the Beat by Beat tour is only good for Disobedience live and tour footage, 1990 is nothing special. I say this DVD is for anyone into KMFDM. Get it before it's gone!

Left 4 Dead review

So I finally have something new to review. Excited? You should be.
So my friend got Left 4 Dead for his PC and as I watched him play it I found it rather inviting. I am kind of into the "Painkiller" style of gameplay where the room will be kind of empty then suddenly a swarm of enemies coming rushing at you. Eventually I decided to play it. We were in the first campaign, third level, if my memory serves me correctly. I pull out the now duel wielded M1911s and unleash hell upon a horde of zombies rushing up the stairs. I felt like a total bad ass playing this game I'm not gonna lie. Every weapon feels about as powerful as it would be in real life, and the melee attacks compliment that in the same fashion. The game does a nice job of ensuring the claustrophobic environments by giving you a flashlight (that is on at all times mind you) that lights up such a small portion of the screen that you hardly know what type of room you're in. It can definitely be frustrating with the zombie variants that surprise you or rush at you. First there's your standard zombie which can run, jump, climb, and hardcore dance. Right now you might be confused as to why a zombie would hardcore dance or if I'm joking. No I'm not joking and I have no idea why a zombie would hardcore dance either; I threw a pipe bomb and as the light for it flashed and it counted down with beeps zombies started rushing towards the bomb and as they got to it they started hardcore dancing. Then the bomb blew up annihilating all of them. The next type of zombie is the hunter, this bitch flies at you and is just annoying. Even more annoying is the smoker, this guy lynches you with his mile long tongue, they appear freaking EVERYWHERE and come out of NOWHERE!!! The last three zombies are the witch, boomer, and tank. The witch is a bitch that kills you in one hit. The boomer is a fat guy that blows up when you shoot him. Tanks are massive William Birkin pimple rejects. The weapons are limited, there's the M1911, an uzi, a mini-14, an m16a2, a trench shotgun, and an auto-loading shotgun. The environments have some variety, one being a giant city, one being the suburbs, and so-on and so-forth. After the second campaign the game gets kind of tiresome. I haven't played multiplayer yet, but if I did and had a bunch of friends to play it with there would be strategy and it would be a lot more fun. But for now I must resort to single player. Overall, it's fun for short periods of time, but if you're looking for a game to occupy your weekends, this might not be the game to get.

I give Links Fur Dead (Left For Dead) an 8.5 out of 10.

Free Stuff and What-Not

So lately I've been having a lot of good luck. I'm getting free album art from Robert Kyrzkowski (Elsie Hooper), I got a free "Baader-Meinhof" sticker from a website, and now I'm getting a free CD from the band Parsley Flakes. I am very thankful for this right now. Why I had to tell you guys this, I don't know, but whatever.
I did find a game to play and it is called "7 Days a Skeptic" and is made by the charismatic stallion known as Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw (Zero Punctuation). I had played the first title in the series called "Five Days a Stranger" and it was a creepy adventure game. The sequel is "7 Days a Skeptic" which I find kind of weird, but I can work with it. The game takes place in the future aboard a spacecraft. Weird things happen and as the Psychologist it is your job to make sense of it all and fight off the evil. I must say it is very creepy for a 16-bit adventure game. I will continually plays this and once I beat it I'll either continue onto the final game or choose another one of Ben's games.
I am dedicating this month's posts and next month's posts to a friend of mine who has had the opposite luck of me. Now cue up "Bloody Tears" (Castlevania) to set the depressing mood. He broke his ankle, he was in a cast for awhile, then he got Das Boot, now he's in another cast (a brace I think). He recently got into an accident, thank GOD he is alright, the other person is alright, both cars are alright, a little damage to his car. Just this weekend his laptop blew up, so he is without a computer or the internet, his cell phone battery died, his car battery died.

ALL POSTS FROM NOW UNTIL FEBRUARY DEDICATED TO MY BEST FRIEND JOHN B.

Games, I need them!

I need to discover and play some good old games. I need recommendations. Anyone?
I want something with a deep story and long gameplay time. Preferably action. I've been bored after beating System Shock 2 numerous times, though it's an amazing game. Painkiller has bored me with its slow downs, and every other game I have isn't interesting me right now.
Help me.
Speaking of games, watch this:

Watch what!?
HA-HA I couldn't resist. Terrible Star Wars reference.

Music/Update

So I got KMFDM's first album "Opium 1984" awhile ago. I hadn't said anything or posted a blog in awhile so what the hey, why not talk about it. So far, I think it's the best KMFDM album, pretty calm, nice synth and guitar work. The album is preformed entirely by Sascha Konietzko, Raymond Watts, and Ton Geist. Most of it is instrumental songs, which is pretty cool. What was disappointing (for me) was that the version I got was a re-release so I was expecting a story in the insert about how the band/album came to be. Other than that it kicks total ass, get it.
Also in music news, Combichrist comes out with a new album in January and they have a preview up on their Myspace. It's pretty cool!
Also I'm getting a discount on my next synthesizer at Sam Ash because I found a cheaper price. The synth I'm getting is a Novation Xiosynth. The original price was $300, I'm getting it for $240 and free shipping. I'm going to order it when I get some more money.

Some site updates, like a couple new links, a new poll, and that's it. Nothing Special

Tracker Music

I just now discovered tracker music. It comes in a MOD format so you'll need Winamp to play it. The music is all 8-bit/16-bit music, it's great!
You can check out some great tracker music HERE!
This site also has a link to the Winamp site in case you don't have that. Well there's nothing else I can really say so... enjoy!

Something New

I really need to make a new post and I didn't know what to dedicate this post to so I'll introduce you guys to new stuff!
The first thing is a freeware game called "Warning Forever." It is one of those top down flight shooters, but it has a classic essence to it, it's completely 2D wireframe except the gunfire and explosions which is really cool! It's nothing but Boss battles as well. Each Boss has a new weapon and amount of that weapon making each one cover more of the screen. Here's a screenshot for you all:

You can download it HERE!

Speaking of guns and gunfire here's a new piece of weapon technology that I find super cool! It's an AR Five-Seven. It's like your standard AR-15, but with a lemon twist that makes it so much better than your standard AR-15. It fires a Five-Seven (5.7 x 28mm) round. The magazine, get this, sits atop the front assembly and is in the style of a 50 round P90 magazine. The shells eject from the classic AR-15 magazine port. Unfortunately if you want one of these beauties you will have to pay somewhat far out the ass to get it. One rifle with one magazine (50 rounds) costs $750.

For more information on the rifle go HERE!

Fear (That old show on MTV)

There used to be a show on MTV called Fear in which a bunch of college kids were thrown into scary locations and asked to do a bunch of tasks... at night. My friend and I talked about the show and we realized this was what the entire show was:

Person X gets thrown into "the Hole" for an hour and they're sitting in the dark with the camera trained on them and they were all like, "Oh my god.... *crying* uuuuuuuh.... *scream, cry*." Then they came back to the chapel crying and then they sent some other douche bag (Person Y) into a jail cell to write with the ghosts and then he locked himself in and started screaming and crying and saying, "Why did you lock the door!??!?!!?" When Person Y came back, Person Z was sent on some other stupid task and they were running around like a moron flailing their arms around because they're being chased by a ghost and then they fall down a flight of stairs and at the same time all of this is happening they're screaming and crying and yelling, "OH MY GOD! *scream, cry* STOP! *scream, cry* Leave me alone! *cry, scream* Leave Brittney alone!!!!! *scream, cry, fall down the stairs* WHY DID YOU PUSH ME DOWN THE STAIRS!!!!!!????? *cry, scream*" Then meanwhile back at the chapel Person X and Person Y are sitting there going "Where's Stacy?" and Person Y replies "I 'unno *shrug*." MEANWHILE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS!!!!! Stacy is screaming and crying in her little valley girl pile on the floor. Then she's going "like o-m-g *cry, scream* this like totally sucks *scream, cry* Like o-m-g I'm gonna text Jennifer about this *cry, scream, text, repeat*." Then eventually once Person Z finally got up and realized how much BS the show was she returned to the chapel and they got their prize money of $100,000.
MTV - making people look like idiots!

First Original Song Uploaded

I just finished my first original song. You can check it out here:
http://myspace.com/cytotoxicity
Know this, I made a fatal error when I made it. I recorded vocals first, then the percussion, so I couldn't really do a synth line. Anyways I hope you enjoy it. The song is "Daft Individuals [Rough Demo Mix]"

Changes and What-not

So I changed the poll because no one obviously cared about the subject, so... changed to another music topic.
VOTE!
I added a couple things down at the bottom. The first being weird news, I get a kick out of it. The second is a zombie survival quiz, I'm a zombie-holic.
ENJOY!

Force Unleashed Review

So I was at a friends' house today, he had gotten Force Unleashed, a game the both of us were looking forward to for a LONG time. He had told me how incredible it was when we were at school and I was excited to go play it. So when I started playing I figured out how to move and all that. The first thing that pissed me off was the camera. Good Lord. The right analog stick (PS3 version mind you) controls the camera so if you neglect that analog stick the camera embeds itself in a near by pile of rubble. Even worse is during the boss battles the camera stays in one position and you cannot move it period and when you have a metal titan attacking you you have no idea where you are. Speaking of not knowing where you are the lighting is so dark that I cannot see the main character or the environments a flood light would help. Going back to boss battles, they drag on FOR-EVER. The first boss battle I fought was on the scrap metal planet (or whatever it was) and I must've been playing fighting that Jedi for about a good thirty minutes, then when you are about to kill him you get the "God of War" button sequence finishing moves thing. After that thirty minute boss battle I had my cheek resting in the palm of my hand while my right hand was preforming the button sequence. Here's some B.S. for ya... kind of... in a boss battle I force pushed the boss off a ledge into some deep ass pit no one would survive. I thought, awesome, that was an easy kill, but I was wrong, the Jedi jumps back up onto the cliff unharmed, I pushed her off the cliff about three more times and into another deep pit three more times. By the way, the main character does not seem like a bad ass, he needs a scar across his eye and a deep gravely voice.
But it's not all bad. The story is unique, the level design and puzzle solving is pretty cool too. Except as I got further into the game I ended up avoiding almost every enemy, running past them, to complete my main objective. Using the force to push open, pull open, and destroy doors was pretty cool. Using the force to throw stormtroopers into other stormtroopers was friggin awesome. I also got to throw turrets into stormtroopers and then force push the stormtrooper into a pit. That's where the game excels, your options on how you want to kill someone. It's incredible. Another cool thing about the game is that you can change your costume and lightsaber color any time you want to.
All in all, I'm disappointed. When I saw the Euphoria engine trailer and then the E3 trailer I had high hopes/expectations for this game. Once I played it it just seemed to be Dynasty Warriors with Jedi and Sith. One thing I wished they had done was composed their own music, I'm kind of tired of hearing the same Star Wars scores recycled over and over again. Anyways, onto my score...
I give Force Unleashed a 7 out of 10.

...Jedi Outcast is better than this, believe it or not.

Chill Out (Hadron Collider)

So I'll start this by saying the activation was successful... at like 1AM today. Secondly, if they do create a black hole (which is unlikely) after smashing two atoms together it will have the same mass as those two atoms and the same energy as the two. The black hole would basically be a nanometer wide and with enough energy to support itself for maybe a billionth of a second. So having said that, nothing catastrophic would really happen. Besides that they're also smashing atoms in Aurora (Illinois) and have been doing so for quite sometime, so like I said before...

CHILL OUT!

Send this to your friends so they can chill out as well.

LSD: Dream Emulator Review

So I finally got to play LSD: Dream Emulator. It is extremely boring and extremely strange. As you start up the game you get an unnecessarily long intro that is trippy as hell. Once you actually play the game you hear the fun music and the annoying clicks of your footsteps. Walk into any object or wall and you'll be transported to another area. A couple times I was transported to a city area. The first time I was transported there I was shot by some guy and sent to another area. The second time I was there I saw some red car speed down the road and fly into a river. It was pretty funny to see something as random as that. As I wondered the city I saw planes fly by and soon spacecraft. Then I came upon some lady wearing a pink dress. She was simply standing there and I wanted to be transported to a new area so I casually strolled up to her and she disappeared only to reappear a few feet away. I walked up to her again and the same thing happened. So I ran up to her and this time she turned to me, bowed, and did something that I missed. This time I was transported to a new area. There was a building and a person standing in front of the building. The person was simply a giant head with arms and legs. After my dream lasted for a good long while I purposefully walked off a cliff to end the dream. At the end of every dream they grade you on how static/dynamic and how upper/downer the dream was. Overall I say get the game because it's a rare gem to have, but if you're looking for something to last a long time I would not recommend this.

I give LSD: Dream Emulator an 8... out of 10.

Republic Commando Review

This review won't be my best, so deal with it you annoying so-and-so.

So I started playing Republic Commando because it came with Jedi Outcast. The game begins with the Kamino natives (whatever species they are) administrating your tests and what not, a bunch of in-game cinematics which is okay I guess, it was a little different. Then the first level you are dropped off in the Geonosian arena in the heat of the battle in the end of Episode 2. The combat is pretty simplistic like any run of the mill shooter, nothing to special about the combat except... ah, the blood. When you get blood or (in a droid's case) oil on your visor you have a visor wiper clean it off, it's pretty cool. You don't really meet up with ALL of your teammates until a couple levels into the game. You get to command your team to do a bunch of tasks such as planting explosives, breaching a door, taking cover and sniping, healing, etc. You can always preform these tasks... unless you're dead, in which you call over a teammate to revive you. Don't take advantage to this as your team will get annihilated in certain areas... along with you. Your team is not a group of idiotic AI, they are just as smart as you are. The levels are pretty cool and definitely help you get more acquainted with you the soldier. Another cool aspect is that there are healing posts that you can use and your teammates will use as well. Like I said they're not stupid so you don't have to command them to do so. Overall a really fun game, but the lasting appeal is the worst thing. I feel that once I'm finished with it I'm just going to uninstall it, put it back in the case, and let it collect dust.

I give Star Wars: Republic Commando a 9... out of 10.

Triforce Origins

I haven't posted in awhile (like usual) so I figure I'd post this find that I discovered last year.

Most of us are familiar with the triforce seen in Legend of Zelda, but where does it come from? Well back in the 1500s there were a couple samurai named Hojo Ujiyasu and Hojo Tsunanari. I use both of their names because I am unclear as to who used it first. Anyways, both samurai had flags that displayed the triforce:

They also displayed this flag in their castles:

So that's where the triforce symbol originated. Whether Miyamoto knew about this or not is beyond me.
Happy?

You can find out more about the Hojo Clan by going here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C5%8Dj%C5%8D_clan

Office Macguyver

Like the new look of the blog? I felt it needed a harsher look than the bland and soft white and red. I also got a new profile icon that I think Rob K. will recognize.
Anyways onto the post. I saw these videos on TV awhile ago on a show called "Attack of the Show." The skits are called McGunner and he's the office Macguyver. All three videos are provided by Game Trailers.

Updates

So I haven't written a blog in awhile so I figure I should just post an update.
I just got a game called "LSD Dream Emulator" which I will be reviewing soon. A very crazy game. Now I have two games with funny titles, "Painkiller" and "LSD."
I'll also be reviewing Star Wars Republic Commando, which by the way is kicking some serious ass. Hopefully I can get off my ass and schedule some interviews with Robert Krzykowski, Aidan Hughes, and hopefully Sascha Konietzko.

A True Jedi Outcast

The Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series is by far the best series of Star Wars games out there. Dark Forces was awesome, Jedi Knight was phenomenal because now you were a Jedi, and Jedi Outcast was... well... not up to par. From the start it was pretty difficult. You could be in a storage locker and they'd throw the entire Imperial army at you (mind you I was playing on Padawan difficulty). The Imperial army would run around like idiots like they tend to do, making it impossible to kill them. What makes the battles even harder is the fact that some stormtroopers are armed with missile launchers and... I guess it's a grenade launcher (the Flechette). The first boss battle you fight you are actually SUPPOSED to get your ass handed to you, which I had no idea. Another B.S. moment is that while the entire Imperial army is thrown at you in a storage locker, you come to a hangar filled with roughly ten Imperials and Kyle says something along the lines of, "I don't have enough fire power to take them all out. Stealth would be a wise choice." I'm sitting there in utter shock because you've been taking on a billion enemies in a room and now when there are hardly any enemies Kyle flips out and thinks it would be a better idea to use stealth. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Another thing that really got to me was how they hid critical passages (i.e. ventilation shafts) and how the critical buttons you had to use were hidden in with the decoration buttons. I hated how they once again restocked your arsenal, that's right, say bye-bye to the Stouker Concussion Rifle and the Rail Launcher. They did make the levels long as hell, which I appreciate, however, there are very few levels which counteracts the long as hell thing.
Let's talk about the positives. The level design is pretty good despite the hidden passages/buttons. In one level you're in a hangar and you can press a button you open the hatches and if you do so you send stormtroopers flying out of the hangar screaming, great fun. In Mysteries of the Sith you can throw your lightsaber and now you still can, which is definitely a plus. The voice acting is great and so is the storyline. The places you go in the game are cool, you go to Nar Shadda (like usual) and you also hit up Cloud City, which is not only a hard level, but a fun one too.
Overall it's pretty decent, but I wouldn't really recommend it unless you were looking for a challenging game, you're a hardcore Star Wars fan, or you are very much into the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series.

I give Jedi Outcast a 7 out of 10.

The Bat Story

I have no news to post so I might as well tell you what happened these past two days.

So I was wide awake here on my computer checking out stuff when I noticed a big object flying around in my room. I could only glance at it because it was flying rather fast. All I caught was that it had wings and a kind of big body, I simply thought it was a bird.
You might be asking yourselves one of two questions... or maybe both:
  1. When will he get on with the story?
  2. What did you do?
So I opened my door to the outside and tried to let it fly out, suddenly I noticed it had no beak and then it hit me like a sack of bricks. It was a bat. I tried to lure it outside and the thing would just fly in circles in my room. I sought out professional help and got my dad. We couldn't find it and we assumed it had flown out of the room. Well a few minutes back in my room it flew in again, this time I closed my door and sealed off my room. Got my dad again and when he got out of his room the bat had gotten into the living room. My dad opened the front door and tried to let the bat out the front door. The bat got onto and log and crawled into the ceiling and never came out. I figured I'd sleep in my brother's room because the bat may not have access to the room. Sure enough minutes after I got into my brother's room the bat flies in. I go into the bathroom and the bat starts flying around violently hitting the blinds, the lamp, the door. Eventually I slowly went into my brother's room again and it wasn't moving, now it was asleep on the ceiling. I went back into my room and crawled into bed and as I' drifting off the bat comes back into my room. Eventually I went to sleep.
Today I was going to sleep in the basement and I remembered I should take an allergy pill. So as I grabbed the box out of the medicine cabinet I heard flapping by the kitchen window. I move slowly towards it and there's the bat trapped under the window, it flies out from under the window and disappears somewhere. I get my dad again and he gets a fishing net and a broom. He looked and couldn't find it in the bathroom or in my room. I heard flapping in my brother's room, so I tell my dad it's in there. My dad walks in, turns on the light, and closes the door. Suddenly he start trash talking the bat and swinging at it with the broom. Suddenly I hear him say, "Connor! Get a garbage bag!" I quickly get a heavy duty trash bag and bring it to my dad who now has the bat trapped under a broom. He lifts the broom slowly and the bat attempts to crawl out, then my dad puts the broom back on him. After awhile my dad proceeds to punch the living crap out of the bat while it's under the broom. He lifts the broom and the bat isn't moving my dad and I thought it was either stunned or dead. I take control of the broom while my dad gets hold of the garbage bag. I suggest to him, "Maybe you should hit it some more to keep it stunned longer." My dad gets back down and proceeds to punch the living crap out of the bat again. He tells me to lift the broom and I do it slowly. There lying under the broom is the bat flattened and bloody. My dad gets him in the garbage bag and throws him out while my mom comes in and cleans up the blood (there wasn't two much, just a few drops). My dad and I just look at each other and laugh. After that everyone went to bed knowing that there wasn't a bat in the house.

What's the Deal With...?

What's the deal with FPS's and Space Marines? Everyone seems to be doing Space Marines: Halo, Quake, Doom, Haze, etc. etc. etc. etc! Now I didn't mention Warhammer 40k because they probably pioneered the Space Marine. It got old after Quake 4, so why do they keep doing it? Have developers run out of ideas? Does this look infected? (Just Kidding) Need ideas developers? Alright, I'll puke a couple out right now.
  1. It'll be called "The Gun Bloodening" and will be a western horror. A town is over run with zombies and it's up to some Clint Eastwood type character to save the day. Make lots of gore to stay true to the title.
  2. It'll be called "Mensch-Maschine" (German for Man-Machine) and it will be an action game. A half man-half machine... thing is terrorizing a town and a group of teenagers decide to take it down by any means necessary.
Okay, I'll admit they aren't that great, but I don't see you doing any better! All I see you putting out is Space Marine FPS games and J-RPGs. If you said to me, "I don't see you coming out with anything better than Halo!" I would just sigh and say, "It's not hard to come out with anything better than Halo and if you don't believe me then maybe I should, maybe I should make a game and rub it in your face." If you say nothing is better than Halo then:
  1. You are a fanboy (most likely)
  2. You have no taste in good games
  3. You are a moron
  4. You probably only care about graphics and multiplayer, and less about story and single player gameplay.
I can name three great games that most Halo fans and must-be-state-of-the-art graphics people would stay away from:
  1. System Shock 2
  2. Dark Forces
  3. Operation Flashpoint
Halo fans would pick up all of those and say things like (yes another list):
  1. "No regenerating health bar, wtf!"
  2. "No repetitive gameplay, SOB!"
  3. etc. (I don't feel like listing every possibilty)
The graphics people would just be pissed and grossed out by how outdated the graphics are and to them I sigh and give them a dunce hat.

Old Therion Has Broken Up

Dear Fans,
Today we have an announcement that will come as a shock to all of you. The four permanent members of the band have had some discussions and it is clear that we have different goals and visions for the future. Therefore it is best for the band, ourselves as individuals and for the fans that we go separate ways now when there is still plenty of time before the next Therion album and World Tour.
This means that Christofer will continue with Therion and the others will perform their music in other projects and bands.
We're all still friends, no one is disappointed and there's still some work we have left
to do together in terms of editing of materials we have recorded for future DVD's.
Best regards to all of you and thank you so much for the wonderful support you have given
the band during the time we have played together.

Christofer, Kristian, Johan and Petter.

This was the message I found on Therion's website (megatherion.com) and this upsets me because I had just gotten into the band and I was hoping for more and knowing that there won't be any more, this really sucks. I love this fantasy music that doesn't have swears. Well I want to know what the new Therion will sound like since Chris is the only one continuing with it.

E3 '08 Stuff

I saw the Fallout 3 trailer and my god it looks so much better than the original Fallout in the sense of combat. In the original Fallout they had this stupid point system and you used up points when you moved and attacked so you might end up dying quickly. In Fallout 3 they've taken that point system out, which is just swell! I didn't see much in the trailer, but it definitely sold itself. You can target weak points on your enemies and send them flying without some limbs.
I caught a glimpse of Star Wars: Force Unleashed which looks more awesome every time I see it. The Euphoria Engine will definitely pay off. I saw early tests of the engine awhile ago and it sold the game right there. Stormtroopers (when pushed off a ledge) will grab the ledge and dangle off it and if another falls off that same ledge they'll grab that first stormtrooper's legs and so on. You get to use the force on not just enemies and objects like crates, but you can use the force to hurl a tie fighter at a squad. Again I didn't see much, but it looks great.
Also there's a new Red Faction game called Red Faction: Guerrilla and the engine used in this game is almost as great as the Euphoria engine. They added something where the objects in the environment have a sense of what they're made of and what can destroy them, so you can literally drive a walker into a friggin' building. You can blow up sections to entire bridges. The whole environment is destructible which makes me want to play the game just for that, HA-HA.

Adam Sessler is the Saviour to Gaming

Adam shows Jack Thompson that video games do not cause real world violence and that the real issues are more important. Jack Thompson is a person who doesn't know what he is talking about and doesn't do research besides looking at one study. The guy who is the middle man proves the same points as Adam Sessler, but from a parent's perspective.

I don't know who Elliot Spitzer is but Adam insults them about criticizing video games.

Researchers tell the true facts about violent video games and how they don't affect adolescent/child behavior, take that Jack Thompson.

First Impressions

So I'll review the demos for Postal 2 and Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2. I downloaded Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2 because I couldn't find a You Are Empty demo, so I'll just buy it when I get back from Colorado. So let's start with the Heavy Metal game. If you are unfamiliar with the Heavy Metal series it's a series of comic books and animated movies that involve sex and violence. The game is no different. The main character Julie has breasts the size of Jupiter and your trainer sounds like someone from a 1-900 number. The weapon system is cool, you can dual wield any two weapons you want. The soundtrack is also... AMAZING. The main menu song when you start the game is just awesome, it sounds like MDFMK. I couldn't finish the demo though because... I just didn't like the game. I didn't get frustrated or anything or quit because I died, I quit because they didn't introduce the two characters you were fighting with for a few moments. Come on, even a little introduction would be nice. They definitely have a large array of ways to get around obstacles which is pretty nice. Oh and by the way it's in third person which is kind of not fun, but I forgive it because Jedi Outcast was like that... in a way. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone really.
Now on to Postal 2. God I love this game. It's an FPS Grand Theft Auto except more vile. When you walk into anyone's house (you can walk into any building) you are greeted with the kind words of, "Get the f*** out of my house a**hole!" I didn't notice any music except in the grocery store, which was middle eastern music. The main character makes comments every now and again like when you unzip and pee on someone he says, "Oooooh yeah!" or "That's the ticket." Unlike Grand Theft Auto you are on foot the whole time and you run errands as opposed to gang missions which I like a lot more. I'm going to keep on playing this one. I recommend this to anyone who is just bored and needs a fun vile game to relieve their boredom.

Faster Than a Speeding... Something

So after my parents consulted the Hughes Net people we now have faster internet. It is actually pretty damn fast, I smile when I surf the internet as opposed to groaning (kind of like when I play any Halo game). So now that the internet is fast I have to celebrate. How will I celebrate you may be asking yourselves, well I think I'm going to download some game demos... I'm bored out here and I've beaten Jedi Knight 3 times and stopped caring when I was attempting to beat the game with all secrets. Anyways I think I'll try to find the demos for "You Are Empty" and "Postal 2" and if anything else grabs my attention then that.

More Things That Anger Me and a Little More.

So as I've been surfing the internet (it has gotten surprisingly faster from drunken turtle to turtle speeds) and living life I have found some things that tick me off... and I'm going to rant about them sort of... in a list.
  1. Forum A-Holes: Forum A-Holes are the people that normally have a black and white picture of a live action film star as their avatar and always feel that there opinion is final and if anyone says otherwise they respond with either, "Go die," "You're a f**," "fail," etc. No matter how logical the other persons opinion is he still thinks his opinion is final. I'll try to be friendly with them or avoid them, so that I don't get on their bad side, but they'll always just continue to be the jerk that they are.
  2. The Cost of Macromedia/Adobe Flash: So I kind of want to jump start my animation "career" if you want to call it that and start doing Flash cartoons. There is a road block in my way and it happens to be the cost of Macromedia/Adobe Flash. The cost for a brand new copy of Flash (either CS3 or 8 or something) is $800. Jesus Christ that is expensive. Even Flash 5 is $150, which isn't too bad, but I'm afraid to save my money, get it and find out that it is just not what I want. I guess I'll have to use MS Paint and Windows Movie Maker to do an animation... or just save up for Flash 5... which I may do.... and then get a friggin' tablet because those are just plain hardcore... you don't even know.
  3. Buzz Killers: I hate when people suddenly become buzz killers, like you'll be telling a joke you heard on the [Adult Swim] show "Robot Chicken" and once done or midway through telling it the person stops you and says, "That joke originated on 'Futurama.'" The only thought crossing my mind is, "I DON'T GIVE A RATS @$$!" I'll kind of clue them in on that and some people just won't get it.
  4. Summer Reading Bull Spit: So for some stupid reason Illinois schools think it is a wonderful idea to have students read the world's worst literature over their break, which takes out the entire point of having a break at all. The book I have to read now is so boring and is so choppy I have no idea what is going on in the book, if it's an introduction or if the book is like this the entire time. I should probably mention the fact that I'm three chapters into the book. Anyways back on topic, the whole idea of a summer break is to give everyone a nice breath of fresh air and hang out time before starting the next school year. Also most of us are getting jobs or are busy during summer.
    ...Friggin' morons.
  5. Mindless Games: I LOOOOOOOOOVE Video games (if you didn't already know that). I like those games that have thought put into them and aren't just stupid. Let's look at Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis. I LOVE this game, it's a true military shooter. They have a mission where you have to guard a camp and make sure there Soviets don't infiltrate it. Now in a mindless shooter they'd throw tanks, jeeps, and all sorts of infantry at you like the U.S.S.R. has an infinite amount of troops. What do they do in the REAL mission? There is just one guy you have to watch out for, kill him and the mission is complete. No one really knows about this game (even though it got the Game of the Year award), but let's drift from that and go into Halo, a very popular series. If you don't know what Halo is you must be living under a rock. Anyways, I try my hardest to like Halo and... I just can't. There's no logic to it. There's no... challenge, it's kind of like the game Painkiller (which ownz all kinds of ass) except with a story going on at all times. My friends always want me to play Halo with them and I always want to say no, but they're my friends and they're cool, so I endure it. Why do people like Halo so much? I don't understand it. Call of Duty 4 is pretty fun, but not as fun as an older military shooter like the Delta Force series.
Yeah, whatever, I'm tired, happy 4th of July, I'm gonna sign off.
And by the way, I'd like all readers to post a comment on this post because I noticed that I have more than 2 readers (yay!).

My Wireless Internet in Colorado

So my second house in Colorado does have wireless internet (thank god), however it sucks some serious balls. It's not the fact that it's "satellite" internet, though I find that a bit interesting, it's that the commercials claim that it goes at blazing fast speeds. When I see that commercial for Hughes Net my jaw drops and I yell, "BULL SHIT!" The internet here is about as fast as a drunken turtle. Comcast goes at Cheetah-like speeds and hotels go at Jack Rabbit-like speeds (And clear out your bookmarks and memory of homepage) and then Hughes Net goes, like I said, at Drunken Turtle-like speeds. By the time I am finished loading a five minute video I look down and realize that not only have I grown a Father Time sized beard, but my hair has turned gray, and I'm all wrinkly. My dad called Comcast to see if they could hook us up with a new connection and they said, "Sorry, we don't have construction in your area and we don't have any future plans to do construction." I find that rather odd because just the other day I saw a Comcast van driving through the neighborhood. Anyway, yeah, that's it. There was a dirty spoon.

Missing "Dark Knight" Will Suck

So I'll be in Colorado for all of July and I really want to see "Dark Knight," but there's a problem. In the area that I'll be staying, within a 50, possibly 100, mile radius there is only 1 movie theater. Now hold on a second I'm getting to the problem, it only shows ONE movie and it'll probably be showing "Wall-E" by the time I get the chance to go see a movie. I know everyone is going to be talking about it, all I want to know is if it's better than "Batman Begins."

oh and by the way, I think this blog will start to get more personal, due to the fact that I'm kind of out of the loop on technology, but fear not I will make a post about E3 and all the coverage.

Morrowind

So I got Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind the other day and now I'm addicted to it. I was up until 2 AM last night playing it. While on the way to complete a quest I did two more. Holy crap, this game is amazing. A unique thing is the whole reputation system and how people treat you and how easy it is to persuade them. I love it... yet I kind of hate it because as I walk through the mage guild they all just hurl insults at me. If you're a warrior/knight/crusader or whatever definitely keep a bow and arrows handy, they will make things a lot easier at times. I highly recommend this game to everyone.

New Schtüff

So... yeah.... I haven't posted much and I'm trying to do so. So John (my movie making buddy) and I have finished CSC 1.5, which is somewhat a trailer to CSC 2. Now... let's go back shall we? CSC or Cataclysmic Space Catastrophe was our first movie that was made in 48 hours with just John and I. When I say it was made in 48 hours, EVERYTHING was made in 48 hours, we wrote, directed, and edited the thing or two whole days. It ended up being just terrible in our eyes, but to others it was pretty good. If you want to keep up with our movies and stuff go to one of our sites (listed at the bottom) feel free to do so. We are supposed to make CSC 2 this summer, but I don't even know if it's possible, we may have to hold off until next summer and make our two other movies that we have on the drawing board.
So I made a post earlier about that song I made, well my friend and I are going to attempt to make an album this summer and post it up on our myspace.
Aside from that, nothing else going on, I plan to get some serious gaming in too, but we'll see.

Extra Volume 1 [Review]

So I recently got the new KMFDM album "Extra Volume 1," which is a bunch of songs from their singles put into 2 CDs. You get almost everything from "What Do You Know?" to "Money." It's really cool, unfortunately you don't get every song from the singles. Like one of the singles is "Naive + Days of Swine and Roses" and you don't get the song "Days of Swine and Roses" which is kind of upsetting because I love that song. I guess they're saving it for Volume 2, but I kind of doubt that since there are a lot more singles to go.
Anyways, I love all the remixes in the album, like "Money (Radio Mix)" which is in the "Money" music video. This 2 disk set is great, but compared to other KMFDM CDs it isn't all that great. I do recommend it though, since most of the songs are brilliant.
...Okay I suck at doing reviews, deal with it.

KMFDM Extra Volume 1 gets a 7/10.

"Essential" Packs at GameStop

I was at Gamestop tonight with some friends and after I had purchased Warhammer 40k Dawn of War Soulstorm I had glanced at the PS2 section and saw the two coolest things, the Devil May Cry and Metal Gear Solid essential packs which included the first three games of each series. They were seperate in case my wording had confused you. Each are roughly $30, I think these are both a must buy, I don't care what games you are into, you must buy them DMC and MGS are great series (hopefully that's the word). MGS in particular is so amazing, I love all of them, but mainly the first one, the one to start it all, I love it. As for DMC, it's great, but not as good as MGS, DMC 1 and 3 are the best. Anyways, yeah, pick these box sets up!

Click here for the Metal Gear Solid box set.

Music

I've started to get more into music and as a result created the song that can be found here.
I hope you all enjoy the song and I am hoping to make more music in the future.
(The song is a remix/edit)

As for the music I listen to, I highly recommend all my readers pick up:
  1. "Schweinstein" by Schwein
  2. "Nihil" by KMFDM
  3. "East Side Militia" by Chemlab
  4. "Artificial Soldier" by Front Line Assembly
  5. "Sinsation" by Pig
And in music news KMFDM is releasing an album called "Extras Volume 1" which is simply put, a bunch of songs put on the original 12" and the CD also comes with a 24 page booklet that shows off art and other good stuff.
I know this is all jumbled just deal with it you nerd, you know what happens to nerds on the moon? Their pants get pulled down and they are spanked with moon rocks!

Anti-Compaq

I have become seriously anti-Compaq because my laptop is crap and I have to deal with all of its problems. My laptop is two years old and my graphics card and mouse are slowly dying. When I first got my computer my mouse would randomly double click (my friend had the same problem), it would have a spaz attack with clicks, that slowly went away, and now the mouse just won't move on occasion and I have to give my little rectangular mouse pad "pimp hand" to make it work (I have to hit it hard!). My graphics card used to let me play Anarchy Online and System Shock 2, now it's as if my graphics card snuck out of my computer and left a piece of paper that says "I is teh graphiks card" so my computer won't let me play those games, even sadder it won't let me play Command & Conquer Red Alert.
I was trying to use one of my USB ports on my laptop and the port... WAS DEAD!!!! Nothing was recognized at all, so I used the other port and it worked just fine. I have also lost a bolt in the bottom of my laptop. WTF.
My friend has a Compaq laptop as well and he has had the same problems. Oh and by the way, who the hell designed integrated graphics cards? What a dumb idea.

System Shock 3?

Apparently EA games is going to make a System Shock 3, sounds good right? I mean come on, System Shock is an excellent series and we want more right!? WRONG! EA is making System Shock 3 without Ken Levine and his comrades and instead with the team that made the Godfather game. What does this mean? This means that the series is going to start sucking ass through a straw! The reason Ken isn't working on System Shock 3 is because he said:
One of the reasons I wasn't interested [in System Shock 3] is EA just didn't give a sh-t about that game.

Now I'm not 100% sure on all of this, but it is according to an article found in the UK edition of PC Gamer, as well as this picture:
If Ken seriously doesn't change his mind and start to work on this project with EA it could very well be the end of the System Shock series as we know it.

Contraversy with KMFDM

This is old news but I need to make a new post.
KMFDM is my favorite band, the main member is Sascha Konietzko who was born in Hamburg, Germany some time ago. Upon them breaking up (which they later reformed a few years later) they released an album called Adios. People had realized that Adios was released on Adolf Hitler's birthday, which wasn't intentional, it was all by coincidence and people automatically assumed that KMFDM was a band of Nazis. They aren't! Are you friggin' kidding me!? I can't really back up my views, but I am friends with Sascha, he isn't a Nazi.
Another contraversy was that Eric Harris, one of the shooters in the Columbine shooting, had posted lyrics from a few of KMFDM songs (this includes: "Anarchy", "Power", "Son of a Gun", "Waste", and "Stray Bullet") on his website. Again these idiots who blamed the shooting on Manson also blamed the shooting on KMFDM. Sascha Konietzko said the day after:

First and foremost, KMFDM would like to express their deep and heartfelt sympathy for the parents, families and friends of the murdered and injured children in Littleton. We are sick and appalled, as is the rest of the nation, by what took place in Colorado yesterday.

KMFDM are an art form — not a political party. From the beginning, our music has been a statement against war, oppression, fascism and violence against others. While some of the former band members are German as reported in the media, none of us condone any Nazi beliefs whatsoever.

The most recent incident was in November of 2007 with a shooting in a Finland school. Someone had made a video of the shooting (imbecile) and put the song "Stray Bullet" in the background.
Okay, seriously, what the hell. Do you people even know what "Stray Bullet" is about? Obviously not.

Another Attack on Video Games

In an article (SEEN HERE) Jack Thompson paraded in front of cameras after the NIU shooting blaming video games. The shooters roomates said he played the game "Counter-Strike" (as did everyone in the room) and the shooter also had a history of mental illness.
Now let's take a quick look at the Virginia Tech shooting, the shooter also had a history on mental illness; however, after a governor-ordered search, there was no connection to video games. Strangely enough Jack Thompson said this guy played video games, which were to blame for the shooting.
Interesting, eh?
So we should conclude here that Jack is a moron. He doesn't focus on the real issues at hand. Let's see here Jack, I'll give you some clue words and let's see if they help you out: "Iraq"...you're drawing a blank? Hmm, let's see here, how about this one, "war" ...no Jack it has nothing to do with video games. What I'm trying to get at here is that we could be bringing troops home from Iraq instead of leaving them in the desert. How about trying to do something about Darfur?
Of course none of the major issues appeal to you Jack because you're too busy wrapped up in your own crap to try and do something about it.

I will end this blog with an amazing quote said by Hal Halpin,
Blaming video games for the behavior of the mentally-challenged is vile on many levels.

Fully Automatic Shotgun!

The Blackwater group has developed a fully automatic 12 gauge shotgun called the AA-12. It has a drum that can carry up to 20 rounds and a normal magazine which carries less. The gun is virtually maintenance free considering that the gun is made from a bunch of different types of stainless steel. Another cool adaptation to the gun is that a new type of shotgun shell has been developed, inside the shell hides a fragmentation grenade called the Frag 12. Once the primer is hit, the Frag 12 zooms out of the shell and creates a big explosion. The AA12 is a force to be reckon with.

Grindhaus Productions Update #1

For those of you who don't know, my friend John and I have a production group called Grindhaus Productions, we got the idea for the name from the Grindhouse double feature that recently came out. Anyways, we got lots of movies planned.
  • Devil May Cry fan movie
  • Resident Evil remake movie
  • Cataclysmic Space Catastrophe 2
  • D-Day movie (possibly)
We completed the scripts for both Devil May Cry and Resident Evil, casting is going on for both. Cataclysmic Space Catastrophe 2 is being planned, and as for the D-Day Movie it is merely an idea that is being considered.
You can see the movies we have done HERE.

C&C Goes First Person... AGAIN!!!

Tiberium the next installment in the Command & Conquer series. This time it is an FPS. There was only one other Command & Conquer FPS and that was Renegade. Renegade was awesome. After that they planned to make Renegade two which would fill in the blank between Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun, but the game was later cancelled. So like most of the Command & Conquer games you are in the battle between GDI and NOD and their struggle to control the world. In Tiberium you are doing just that and you play as the good guys, GDI. The game picks up after C&C 3: Tiberium Wars and not only will you be fighting NOD, you'll be fighting the Scrin, an alien race who wants a piece of the Tiberium pie. According to Chris Plummer of EA LA you will be given one gun that you can transform to fit your needs. This means that it goes from standard assault rifle, to grenade launcher, to missile launcher, and back.
The game is expected to come out in 2009, after playing C&C Renegade I just can't wait to play this game. It is supposed to come out for PC, PS3, and XBOX 360.

MORE ON C&C TIBERIUM ON IGN!

I Cloned me a Filet Mignon!

Not really.
Apparently there's a new thing happening with meat being cloned. You might be wondering, "Connor, is this safe? Is this 'cloned meat' okay for me?" the FDA has approved cloned meat, yes it is okay to eat. Now you most likely have not and won't sink your teeth into a piece of cooked clone meat because it's not allowed in the industry... yet. Now I say "most likely" because there are always cheaters in the world. Another reason cloned meat hasn't showed up is because most clones have birth defects. Once clones come out with little to no birth defects and the FDA finishes the report on cloned meat you may be able to find some cloned meat at your local grocery store or butcher.
Feel free to post comments on the subject, I'm interested to see what people think about this.

MacBook Air

I have a Snow Day today so I figured I might as well post my next blog.
Most of you have seen the MacBook Air. For those of you who haven't it's the new Mac laptop that is 1.5 inches thick... dang that's thin. The MacBook Air is complete with wireless internet, built in iSight camera, 5 hours of battery life, 13.3 inch wide screen with a resolution of 1280x800, and Mac OS X Leopard. Because the MacBook Air is so slim there is no CD drive so mac gamers will have to by an external DVD drive.
I'm not big on Macs but with my experience with Apple products the first batch will suck and after that they will be pretty cool. If I were to get a Mac it wouldn't be this one. Why you ask? The main reason is because of the "no DVD drive" thing, that sucks, I don't want to have to buy an external DVD drive. If an external DVD drive comes with the MacBook Air, then that would be cool.
I'm a Windows guy, so I don't take to kindly to Macs. I like Windows because almost every application I've wanted/have is for Windows. If the product is a Mac only thing, Windows will have a knock off of some type. Anyways, I'm waiting to see how this MacBook Air turns out.

A Sabotage Gone Wrong

I believe we are all familiar with the sabotage videos right? Where it would say find the error in the picture and a few seconds later a picture would appear and there would be a loud shriek or something of that nature.
I was interested in this Invader Zim thing called "Bloody Gir" where in some scenes there would be a somewhat transparent picture of Gir on the screen covered in blood. You would have to watch very closely and frame-by-frame to find them all. Anyways, I got a sabotage video that was scary and disgusting. There was text that said, "There's a bloody Gir in this picture. Can you see it?" And I was thinking, I don't have time for this, so I was seeking through the video and the sabotage picture was a mutilated body on the street, this picture was for real. There was blood everywhere and the guys ribs were showing.
Why would someone create a video showing something like this!? This person's YouTube account should be banned. What kind of sick freak posts a picture of a mutilated body on YouTube!? This guy is worse than anti-video game people!

Have sabotage videos gone to far? Sure it's fun to scare your friends, but when you get pictures like these it just goes to far!

Airsoft Attacked

VIDEO FOUND HERE!

So this idiot on Fox News says, "Who manufactures these and who's buying them?" I'll tell you who, people who love airsoft. They imply that cops will shoot anyone who has an airsoft gun out, again another stupid comment. The police will only ask to look at the gun and if you don't cooperate, most likely, they'll arrest you. These people need to do research on airsoft before they do a broadcast on it.
Any normal person that gets held up with and airsoft gun knows that it's fake because of the tiny hole in the front of the gun.
Now, these news casters are talking about airsoft like it's a crime, look airsoft guns and toy guns aren't bad, it's the idiots that use them that are bad.

As you notice, I'm calmer then my last post because airsoft is a new thing to me, I didn't grow up on it. I don't know where these news casters are from but to the news casters in Utah (also in Fox News) it's rather cool.
UTAH AIRSOFT VIDEO FOUND HERE!

I just want these people to do a little research before they decide to attack something. Take a trip out to an airsoft game and talk to some of the people there.

Video Game Contraversy

I first heard about this thing on a message board I go to (Bentley Bros Forums). The post was about this guy who was upset about Mass Effect and how it had this lesbian scene (That showed nothing) as well as the fact that when you create a character you can edit their weight and, for females, breast sizes (which I admit is somewhat shallow). To sum it all up he was being like one of those annoying political types that are angered by anything video game related that could barely affect a child. What is it with these idiots? At first Senator what's-his-face pushed the ESRB on us. This wasn't that bad, I mean, hey at least we got a rating system right? something to tell us what age group the game is best suited for. Then here comes the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas "Hot Coffee mod." Everyone should be familiar with this one because Hilary Clinton wouldn't shut the heck up about it. Another video game incident I heard about was that a guy in London killed his room mate and they concluded that it was because of the game Manhunt.
... WHAT THE HELL!!!!!!!
Any moron can say that. That's like if I went to school and beat up some guy and someone noticed that I had Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Tekken 5 and concluded, "Well it's obvious that Mortal Kombat and Tekken influenced his actions."
Anti-video game people piss me off because they're all the same, they think that video games are bad and that they're going to ruin our lives. Honestly, get a life, no one gives 2 bird turds about what you think.
For those of you who are unaware of how bad anti-video game people are, they would type of things like this:

Books are evil and eat your kids. Studies show that 4 out of 5 babies will die this year due to you reading books. There is also a dramatic increase in shootings because of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six and there have also been increases in burnings and pyrotechnics due to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451.

Sound a little strange? Think that person is crazy right? We all know that isn't true, but this is like something the anti-video game groups would make up, why?
Oh I'll tell you why...
BECAUSE THEY'RE A BUNCH OF WHINY LITTLE RUNTS WHO THINK THAT JUST BECAUSE THEY'RE OLD MEANS THEY CAN SAY VIDEO GAMES ARE BAD. They should all go and swallow the stuff under the sink or drink some kool-aid (Hope you understand the reference) because they're nothing but a stigma to America!

Willkommen Komrades!

This will be my first blog on the new version of this site.

w00t!

I will be serving up some new info that effects the lives of many of us. Things like politics, technology, and other stuff... and I'll post my thoughts about them.
